Retraction

So, thanks to rhubarbpie, I've learned the story below is false. Though disappointing for Bush-haters, I'll admit the truth restores my faith in the future of humanity. Click here for the whole story. I won't delete my earlier entry, however. Despite its inaccuracy, it's simply too delicious.

this one has fabulous quotes all over it, and I love them! I can't say i even care how accurate they are. Examples?

"I think we ought to raise the age at which juveniles can have a gun."
"Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"
"The war on terror involves Saddam Hussein because of the nature of Saddam Hussein, the history of Saddam Hussein, and his willingness to terrorize himself."

What are we going to do for humor when he's out of the White House?

Not that the president doesn't say dumb or bizarre things. Here's one from this Friday's Bob Herbert column in The New York Times -- I also heard Bush say this in a radio report about the miscue:

"The pressure may be getting to Mr. Bush. He came up with a gem of a Freudian slip yesterday. At a signing ceremony for a $417 billion military spending bill, the president said: 'Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.'"
