Does anyone know what John Lennon mumbles at the beginning of the song "Woman?" Or is it just one of those intentionally unintelligible unsung pop song mutterings?
Posted by ayelet at September 25, 2005 12:37 PMOh, and yes, Lennon rules; i grew up on the Beatles, it was one of the only things besides classical music that my father would ever allow us all to listen to, so we had "breakfast with the Beatles" every Sunday.
I loved the movie Mr. Holland's Opus when Lennon dies and Mr. Holland's deaf son is wondering what he is so upset about. A big fight ensues, and his son (Coltrane) was furious that his father would ever think that he didn't know who John Lennon was.
Richard Dreyfus signs "Beautiful Boy" toward the end of the movie, I still tear up just THINKING about that scene.

You know there's an old myth about people being half and the other half being in the sky, or in heaven or on the other side of the universe or a mirror image. But we are two halves, and together we're a whole."
-John Lennon
Yeah, James (and Ayelet) there is a documentary (1975) entitled "The Other Half of the Sky" about mainland Chinese life... strangely Shirley MacLaine is in it... anyway, it was nominated for an Oscar & a Golden Globe too.
I guess i thought it strange that he was quoting/refering to a Chinese man and married a Japanese woman... i started looking in all the wrong places for this information.

Lately I've been listening to "How?" from the "Imagine" album... Lennon rules!
